Let me start off by saying, I appreciate the time spent checking out my blog. I hope you enjoy reading & learning just as much as I do writing.
Okay, so my inspiration behind brunchinstilettos came from a place of boredom. Yes, living in Pittsburgh can be quite boring sometimes (at least for me). I have always felt like this city lacks culture and diversity. I was born and raised in Ghana, West Africa and as much as I admire some of what the American culture has to offer, there’s nothing I appreciate more than the Ghanaian and African culture at large. From the delicious, spicy foods, to the bright-colored & unique clothing filled with different patterns, to the vibrant rhythms of Afrobeats–I love it all! I’ve spent time in the DC, Maryland, Virginia area as well as New York and the exposure to culture and diversity made me yearn for the same type of vibe in Pittsburgh. Maybe, I am setting too high of an expectation for my city but I will say, over the past few years, I have realized that others also want a more culturally diverse atmosphere. So, join me on this journey as I share my experience as a Ghanaian woman, finding ways I can enjoy my culture and that of others while living in Pittsburgh. Let’s go!
